Virginia Lillian Jacobs fell asleep in the Lord on August 6, 2014, at the age of 98.
Virginia was born October 12, 1915, in Meeker, CO to Lodeman and Grace (Hildenbrandt) Jones.
She grew up in Rangely and had two younger sisters, Lodema, who died in infancy and Florence, who was her lifelong friend. Virginia enjoyed swimming in and ice skating on the White River in her youth.
She graduated from high school in Meeker and attended Colorado State University for two years. She taught at Rangely and at the Lissner one-room school, north of Durango.
While teaching in Nucla, CO she met her husband, William Edwin Jacobs. They were married June 24, 1944, and raised four daughters, Barbara (Lance) Earley; Joanne (Butch) Showman; Jeanne (Gary) Yamnitz, and Beverly Tennant. Virginia and Edwin raised sheep and cattle on the Jacobs family ranch in Norwood, CO. She was a member of the Ute Trail Study Club for 40 plus years. Virginia’s family was very dear to her and she also enjoyed painting and travelling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, husband, and one grandson. She is survived by her daughters; ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Internment was at the Norwood Cemetery, August 11.
