Doyal Lee Patterson
December 26, 1940 - August 16, 2014
Doyal Lee Patterson, 73, of Surprise, Arizona went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, August 16, 2014.
He was born in Winona, Missouri on December 26, 1940, to Manuel and Nellie Patterson. The Patterson’s moved from Missouri to reside in Clifton, Colorado for his remaining childhood. Though not a scholar in formal education, life would be his teacher making himone of the smartest men anyone could ever know. He was a decorated Army veteran, and as a soldier he traveled and served his country with honor.
Doyal would eventually meet the love of his life, Dorothy Lee Carey.
They were married May 10, 1968 and created the thing he was most proud of, his family. Doyal spent the remainder of his days working to
make sure they were happy, loved and had everything they wanted or needed.
Doyal was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He always told
us that at the end of his journey all he wanted was a golden fishing pole. I’m sure he is somewhere now sitting next to a stream holding that pole.
Doyal is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and his three children, Gary Patterson; Barbara Patterson, and Connie Patterson-Elliott; 14 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; his siblings, Cleta Gibson, Darlene
Runde, Virginia Hardy, James Patterson, and Dillard Patterson and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Gene Patterson.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at New Haven Pentecostal Church in Palisade, Colorado with burial immediately following.
