Marian Robbins Carson
March 5, 1923 - August 17, 2014
Marian passed away on August 17, 2014, at San Juan Living Center in Montrose, Colorado at the age of 91.
Marian was born to Charles and Else (Husband) Robbins on March 5, 1923 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She spent her childhood in the Mesa, Clifton, and Fruitvale area and graduated from Central High School. She then went to Mesa College and completed her associate degree in grade school education. Marian also resided in Gunnison, Colorado for 14 years, and Delta, Colorado for 25 years. She worked at an elementary school as a music teacher and was a florist before retiring.
Marian was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church and was the Lay Leader for over 20 years. She received the Quiet Deciple Award from the Rocky Mountain Regional United Methodist Church in 2002. Marian also served in the Women’s Army Air Corps (WACS) to see the world, but spent her entire enlistment at Clovis New Mexico until 1944. Marian enjoyed all crafts of all kind, she was a Master Gardener in the Tri-County Extension Service. Marian and her late husband owned Delta Floral for 20 years. If you asked Marian “Why?”, she would reply “Because I’m the Wicked Witch of The West, That’s Why”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and Elbert “EB” Justin Carson, and a son, Charles Bresser. Marian is survived by two sons, John Carson and Roy Carson of Grand Junction, Colorado, and brother, Wes Robbins. Ms. Carson also leaves behind five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and four great-great-grandchildren to cherish her memories.
A Celebration on Life Service on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at Martin Mortuary, and graveside service with honors at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grand Junction, Colorado. Service will be followed by receiption at Martin Mortuary Rose Garden.
