Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 6 A Obituary - July 22, 2014

Robert C. Bradley (known
as Bob or Brad to his friends)
passed away peacefully in his
home in Grand Junction, CO on
Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the
age of 89.
An avid birdwatcher, he pursued
his passion with contagious
enthusiasm that helped fellow
advocates find that rare bird and
many novices develop their own
passion. Birding, and an accompanying
appreciation for the
outdoors and travel throughout
the world, took him on many adventures
to all seven continents
(usually with his wife, Ann) culminating
with a trip to Antarctica
at the age of 87.
Bob was born in Oshkosh, WI
on December 12, 1924. He spent
most of his youth in Waupaca,
WI and, during summers, at the
family property on his beloved Pine Lake. He graduated from the
Navy V-12 officers training program at the University of Minnesota
and earned a degree in metallurgical engineering at the end
of World War II. His active duty was primarily in the Boston area,
where he met his wife, Ann, and they married in 1952. He continued
to serve in the Naval Reserve while working in the aerospace
industry in Milwaukee, San Diego, and Phoenix, before retiring in
Grand Junction.
Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ann; son, Jon (Carol)
Bradley of Lake Oswego, OR; daughter, Jennifer (Dan) Sullivan
of Grand Junction, and four adoring granddaughters, Amanda and
Emma Bradley, and Maley and Emily Sullivan.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at James M. Robb Colorado
River State Park, Fruita on Friday, July 25 at 9:30 in the morning.
In lieu of flowers, donations, in Bob’s memory, may be made to
the Grand Valley Audubon Society, PO Box 1211, Grand Junction,
CO 81501 www.audubongv.org; HopeWest Hospice, 3090B North
12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506 www.hopewestco.org or to
a charity of the donor’s choice.
