May 26, 1921 - December 20, 2013
Josephine Gore passed
peacefully away Friday evening,
December 20, 2013, after a brief
illness. She was 92 years old.
Josephine Mae Beach was born
on California Mesa near Delta to
Floyd and Dora (Klepper) Beach
on May 26, 1921, the third of
four children. She grew up on the
family ranch and talked about
helping her Dad gather cows
on 7 N Mesa. This was good training as she became involved in
ranching and cattle all of her life. On January 3, 1939, she married
the love of her life, Wayne Gore who preceded her in death in 1980.
To this marriage two sons were born, Richard and Tom. One of
her many skills and sources of enjoyment was cooking large meals
whether for the ranch work or Holidays. Jo loved to collect antiques
and arrowheads.
Jo believed firmly in community involvement. Among Jo’s
many lifetime accomplishments was helping found the Delta
County Historical Society and Museum, Delta County Livestock
Association, the Delta Altrusa Club, State President of the Cowbells
organization, and serving Delta County as Clerk and Recorder for
10 years.
Jo was preceded in death by husband Wayne, sister Coral, sister
Millie Gavin, and her parents Floyd and Dora Beach. Jo is survived
by sons Richard of Olathe, Tom (Paula) of Delta; grandson Ian
of Delta; and granddaughter Katie Jo and fiancé Matt Matusio of
Fountain. Her brother, Melvin Beach, also survives and is a resident
of Colorow Care Center.
Services will be Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Taylor Funeral
Service Chapel in Delta, Colorado with viewing from 1:00 to 2:00
pm and services at 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions can be made
