godchildren, many friends and the caregivers at Larchwood Inns
also survive her. All of whom will miss a strong and caring Mary.
Mary was born February 9, 1919 in Trinidad, Colorado. She met and
married Joe in 1938 in Longmont, CO. In that same year, the young
couple settled in Delta’s fertile Gunnison Valley. Decades of hard
farm life by Joe, Trino, Mary and Bonnie resulted in a successful
farming operation: Ledesma & Son Farms. Tri-River Agribusiness
Association recognized their farm as one of the ‘top three farming
operations’ in 1973. Mary and Bonnie were the homemakers/
partners who fueled the many harvest crews with meals facilitating
this recognition. Their dining tables also fed family and friends
featuring homemade tamales, burritos, tortillas, chicken mole and
other delicious foods. Visitors never left a Ledesma home hungry.
Mary’s special interests were her family, friends, gardening
(specifically roses, irises, and a large strawberry patch), sewing,
embroidery and crocheting. Phone calls and visits from family and
friends were always a welcome treat. Thank you all for sharing time
with her.
A Memorial Mass will be Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10 a.m.
