Goldine Franklin, 91, Grand Junction, died Oct. 6, 2014, at HopeWest and Hospice Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, followed by internment at Veterans Me-morial Cemetery of Western Colorado.Ms. Franklin was a registered nurse.She is survived by her husband, CR; two sons, Chuck of New Castle, Wyoming, and Steven J. of Caldwell, Idaho; one brother, Dallas Cross of Brighton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Memorial contributions to International Children’s Care, P.O. Goldine Franklin, beloved wife of “C.R.” Clint Franklin passed away October 6, 2014.
Goldie was born May 31, 1923, near Fort Lupton, Colorado. Her parents, Lloyd and Helen Cross, came by covered wagon from Nebraska to the plains of eastern Colorado. Goldie attended grade school at Keenesburg and graduated from Campion Academy near Loveland, Colorado as valedictorian of her class. She began her nursing degree at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska and received her Bachelors degree in nursing from Walla Walla College.
Goldie worked in several hospitals in the Denver area, was director of the OB department and taught obstetric nursing at Porter Memorial Hospital.
She married Clint Franklin on January 28, 1952. They moved to the Fruita, Colorado area in 1956. Goldie worked at Lower Valley Hospital in Fruita for a number of years as they established their farming operation in the area. Goldie enjoyed the farm and ranch life and was also an active member of the Fruita Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Clint Franklin; two sons, Chuck (Tami) of Newcastle, WY, and Steve (Marsha) of Caldwell, ID; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She has one brother, Dallas Cross of Brighton, Colorado and numerous nieces and a nephew.
Services will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at 11:00 am.
