n Marjorie Bain, 84, Grand Junction, died July 21, 2014, at her residence.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, also at Callahan-Edfast followed
by interment at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Bain was an office manager.
She is survived by two sons, Brian of Grand Junction and David of
Palisade; one daughter, Patrice Ward of Grand Junction; one brother,
Jack C. Bates, Sr., of Waco, Texas; five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

The youngest of six born to Samuel S. and Augusta Cornish, Marjorie was born in Graham, Texas. A brother, Kent and sister, Margaret died in infancy.
The family moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1944, where she was graduated from Lubbock High School in 1947.
She met Wayne Bain in high school. Upon his return from duty with the U.S. Navy in World War II, they were married on Thanksgiving Day in 1947. They continued to live in Lubbock until Wayne finished college and another tour of duty with the U.S. Naval Reserves in the Korean War. Daughter, Patrice and son, Brian were born in Lubbock.
They moved to El Paso where their son, Spencer, was born; then back to Lubbock where David was born.
In 1964, they embarked upon a new life in Colorado, where they became peach growers in Palisade. Marjorie began work at Home Loan & Investment Company in Grand Junction in 1965 and retired in 1995. She then worked for the American Cancer Society for several years. She was a member of Altrusa International, Inc. of Grand Junction since 1984. Through the years she served on several community service boards and volunteered at St. Mary’s Regional Cancer Center for over ten years.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Spencer Kent Bain; grandsons, James Tyler Bain, and Zachary Bain; brother, Sam Bates, Jr., and sister, Anne Wemple. She is survived by her children, Patrice (Dave) Ward and Brian Bain of Grand Junction, and David (Tracy) Bain of Palisade; grandchildren, Bethany Feely, Cassandra Feely, Dylan Bain, Keegan Bain, and Kali (Cory) Williams;
great-grandchildren, Owen Bain, Aiden Bain, and Emma Williams; brother, Jack (Freda) Bates, Sr.; sister-in-law, Lois Bates; six nieces, and six nephews.
Visitation will be 5 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, at Callahan-Edfast followed by interment at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
