William “Bill” Bradford Williams
December 11, 1929 - October 15, 2014
“If the Army and Navy ever look on Heaven’s scenes; they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines.” – Marine Corps Hymn
Bill passed away October 15, 2014, at La Villa Grande Care Center. The amazing staff at La Villa cared for Bill since October, 2009, in conjunction with his beloved wife, Loree, and loving daughter, Sherry.
Bill lived a real, full, and wonderful life. Born on December 11, 1929, in Clarksville, TX, to Clyde and Elaine Williams, Bill had one older brother, Clyde, Jr., who preceded him in death. Bill spent his youth in east Texas, most notably Houston, where he graduated from Reagan High School in 1948. Then came the years of travels beginning in his dear West Texas for college. After graduating from The University of Texas College of Mines in El Paso in 1952, he promptly entered the United States Marine Corps.
Being a Marine meant the world to Bill, and he was a first lieutenant for four years. He served overseas, most notably in Turkey, which was a subject of many conversations. Following the years in service to his country, came an illustrious career as a mining engineer that carried Bill throughout the united States and even into South America.
His career began in Gilman, Colorado, in 1956. Very soon after, he met and married the love of his life, and wife of 55 years, Loree. Bill managed mines in the desert Southwest, on the east coast, and in the West before settling at his final work and retirement location in South Fork, Colorado. From there, he and Loree spent several years in Farmington, NM, before heading back to where to it all began for them in Colorado.
“The best man in your life is the man who raised you and taught you right from wrong.” Along his path, Bill loved and influenced many lives. He was our rock!
He is survived by his wife, Loree, and four children, Glen Close of Bethlehem, PA; Sherry Bley of Grand Junction, CO; Sam Williams and Susan Williams of Las Vegas, NV. Bill is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He greatly impacted, through his shining life example, the lives of all of his daughters, and sons-in-law.
He was the best husband, daddy, and grandpa we could have ever asked for.
