George Linford “Lindy” Ferree
October 29, 1942 - October 19, 2014
George Linford “Lindy” Ferree, 71, of Grand Junction, CO passed away October 19th, 2014.
George was born in Kansas City, MO, October 29th, 1942, and was raised in Cortez, CO. He graduated from Cortez High School and attended Mesa College in Grand Junction, CO and Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. He joined the Marines and became a Jet Engine Mechanic.
George was a Montgomery Ward Manager at several locations and then became an owner of retail businesses in Cortez, CO and Grand Junction, CO. In 1980, he married Gwen Ferree in Cortez, CO and then in 1988, moved to Grand Junction, CO.
George enjoyed spending time with his family and friends doing outdoor activities including snowmobiling, ATVing, boating at Lake Powell, fishing, and horse back riding. He was also a dedicated Denver Bronco and Nascar racing fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Myron (Eloise) Ferree of Prescott, AZ; Avis (J.C.) Hamilton of Cortez, CO, and great-grandson, Tyler Morris of Bono, AR.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen; his daughters, Valerie (Bruce) Carr of Lorado, AR, and Cindy (Alan) Sisac of Grand Junction, CO; sister, Vicki (Dr Jim) Parker of Grand Junction, CO; grandsons, Devin (Kim) Tate of Bono, AR, and Cooper Sisac of Grand Junction, CO; great-granddaughters, Emily Morris and Rileigh Tate of Bono, AR; nephew, Kevin (Vicky) Parker of Keller, TX; nieces, Karen (Joe) Hatfield of Grand Junction, CO and Kristen (Jason) Stanfield of Grand
Junction, CO.
A private family service will take place.
