Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 6 A Obituary - December 2, 2014

Loney James Walck passed away
on November 22, 2014 in his home
in Clifton, CO.
Loney was born August 1, 1950
in Colbran, CO to Scott and June
Walck. He was preceded in death
by his mother June, and his son
James Scott Walck.
Loney was a Vietnam Veteran. He
served our Country for two years.
In those two years he received six medals for his heroism for saving
lives in battle and out. His outstanding bravery and devotion to duty
were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and
reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
We salute you, Loney Walck with our love and respect. He was a good
soldier and a wonderful loving man.
After Vietnam he preferred staying home, traveling was something he
never cared to do. Though because of “Ride the Rockies,” a weeklong
bicycle ride, I “his wife” was involved in, Loney saw parts of Colorado
he had never seen before. He explored this beautiful state with his dog
and best friend Jake, aka Munson. For 12 years he was mine and my
riding buddy, Diane’s “Safety driver.” Every June like clockwork he
followed us and kept us safe from all harm. We thank you Sweetheart
and we will always remember!
When Loney returned from Vietnam he started working on farm
equipment. To all of the ranchers, Loney truly loved and respected you.
He always wanted to do his best for you and for 40 plus years, I’m sure
you would agree he did succeed on taking good care of all of you. I
know you will miss him.
Loney was a man of honor and respect. If he liked you he gave you a
“nickname.” And if he didn’t give you a nickname trust me he didn’t
like you. Some of his habits would tickle your funny bone. Like the
one on the coins he always carried in his watch pocket: two quarters,
four dimes, one nickel, and four pennies. For 24 years it was always the
same. The object was if he needed a little extra change he would always
have it in his watch pocket, and if he used any of it he would replenish
it the next morning.
Loney is now in Heaven, where there is no more pain and suffering.
Some day we will get to see again our Beloved, husband, father, son,
brother, uncle, grandson and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Jo; step-son, Jeremy; step-daughter, Jocelyn;
and five grandsons; his father, Scott Walck and step-mother, Betty;
three brothers, Randy, Mike, and Roy; four sisters, Tammy, Roxie,
Sandy, and Gale.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., December 5th, at the Veterans Memorial
Cemetery of Western Colorado, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand
Junction, CO.
Memorial contributions can be made to Veterans Memorial Cemetery
of Western Colorado, 2830 Riverside Parkway, Grand Junction, CO
81501
