Richard “Dick” Case, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Grand Junction with his family at his side on November 22, 2014. Richard was born on February 18, 1944 in Grand Junction, CO to Willard E. and Lola (Batchelor) Case. He was the oldest of four children. Dick (as referred to by many), graduated from Central High School in May, 1962. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and completed his basic training in Great Lakes, IL in August of 1963. He then was transferred to San Diego, CA aboard the USS England until his honorable discharge in 1969. Upon his return, Dick was employed as a laborer by Corn Construction, Inc. In March, 1973 he took a position with the City of Grand Junction Water Department, where he worked his way up to Superintendent and held that position until retirement in June of 1995. Although he retired, Dick could not stay still for long, and took on work as a truck driver, welder, and fabricator among other positions to keep himself busy. Dick married his one and only love, Mary Jo Caldwell on March 13, 1965 in Clifton, CO. They enjoyed raising their only child, Timothy A. Case, spending much of their time camping, fishing, hunting, and working on cars. Dick had many talents and interests. He earned many Pro-Marksman, and Sharpshooter awards in the Junior NRA competitions. He also enjoyed rebuilding cars and competed in stock car races
around the grand valley from 1974-1976. Dick was a member of the NRA and Grand Junction Moose Lodge #270, but his favorite pastime was being with his granddaughters and great-granddaughter. He will be greatly missed. Dick is preceded in death by his father, Willard E. Case; and his wife, Mary Jo Case. He is survived by his mother, Lola Case; brothers, William (Gayla) Case, Leland Case; sister, Wanda Hutchison; son, Timothy (Sarah) Case; granddaughters, Brittany (Kody) Thurston, Kaylin Case; great-granddaughter, Hailey Thurston. A Memorial service to honor Richard’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan Edfast Mortuary.

Richard N. “Dick” Case, 70, Grand Junction, died Nov. 22, 2014, at his residence. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Callahan- Edfast Mortuary followed by private inurnment at Orchard Mesa Cemetery. He is survived by one son, Timothy; his mother, Lola Case; two brothers, Leeland and William; one sister, Wanda Hutchison; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
