Helen passed away peacefully in her sleep, at Family Health West Nursing Home.
She was born November 27, 1939, in Grand Junction, Colorado to Helen L. Wiscombe and William “Bil”) Wiscombe. She grew up on the same property that she still owned a portion of when she passed away, one mile south of Mesa. Helen attended the Mesa School and graduated from Collbran Union High School in 1957.
She married Albert “Henry” Steuben, they had no children from this marriage. Henry and Helen worked together building powerlines throughout the western United States, for several years, before retiring in eastern Colorado. She returned home to Mesa in 1994, to take care of her parents, and became involved with several community service entities, Mesa/Molina Cemetery, Mesa Community Center, and being water clerk for most all of the reservoir companies in Plateau Valley, until such time in 2012, as she was unable to continue her clerk duties.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Helen Wiscombe, and her husband, Albert Henry Steuben. Helen is survived by many close friends throughout Plateau Valley and the surrounding area. No services are planned, per her request.
In lieu of flowers, Helen would want any donations to be made to the Mesa Methodist Church, Box 344 Mesa, CO, 81643, in her name.
Services are entrusted to Palisade Funeral Home of Palisade, Colorado.
