Donald was born August 1, 1930, to Fred and Mary (Rutz) Kern of Lisbon, N.D. He spent his childhood in Lisbon, N.D.
Donald served in the Army eight years in occupied Germany and Japan.
He married his loving wife, Barbara, in Brentwood, CO, on March 3, 1967. They lived in Aspen and Missouri Heights, where for 25 years he had an appliance service business called Appliance Kare. He retired and moved to Grand Junction 24 years ago.
He attended the Covenant Presbyterian Church. Donald loved to fish, watch football, go camping, read, and to be with his family. His favorite quotes were, “Your health is your wealth.” and “Write me if you get work”.
Donald is survived by his wife, Barbara; step-son, Jack D. Renshaw of Rifle, CO; step-daughter, Pamela J. Bean (James) of Mesquite, NV; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and fivegreat-great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado on Monday, November 3, 2014, at 1:00 p.m.
