Sharon Marie Kelly Priest, 54, of Grand Junction, CO passed away December 6, 2014, at HopeWest Care Center in Grand Junction. Born October 31, 1960 in Okinawa, Japan, she was the daughter of the late John Peter and Marsha Jean Munro Kelly. Sharon’s father was Lt. Col in the United States Air Force and as a result, the family moved many times during her childhood. The family eventually settled in Memphis, TN where Sharon graduated from Bartlett HighSchool in 1978. Following graduation, she attended the Methodist Nursing School in Memphis, and earned her Registered Nursing degree in 1980. She started her career in nursing at St. Francis Hospital and continued through Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. Sharon and Mark Priest were married September 14, 1985, by the hospital chaplain in Cape Girardeau, MO. Over her nursing career, she worked in Labor and Delivery, Pre and Post Op, Recovery and Dialysis. She had previously worked at Community Hospital and at Desert Sun Medical Center, a Doctor’s Office in the valley. Most recently she had worked for five years as a RN at Dialysis Clinic, Inc. on Crossroads in Grand Junction. She was a member of ABWA Grand Junction Chapter. She was a woman of many interests and talents. She loved camping, hiking, traveling and cruising. She enjoyed baking, gardening, concerts, and attending conferences. Sharon was a spirit filled Christian who loved the Lord. She was a very caring, compassionate, and thoughtful person who would put others before herself. Her family meant the world to her. Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1988, and has been battling cancer intermittently for 26 years. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Cathleen Kelly loom. She is survived by her husband, Mark of Grand Junction, CO; two daughters, Kellen Priest, age 26 of Juneau, AK and Micah Priest, age 23 of Grand Junction, and a brother, Christopher Kelly, Bartlett, TN. The family is planning a Celebration of Life to be held at A Taste of Heaven Catering, 2817 North Avenue, Grand Junction, CO Saturday June 6th 2015, 1:00 p.m.
