November 28, 1922 - January 2, 2015
Lifetime Delta, Colorado resident, Opal A. Weams, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015, at Willow Tree Care Center in Delta, Colorado.
She was 92 years of age.
Funeral services will be held to honor Opal’s life at 2:00 p. m., Thursday, January 8, 2015, at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta, Colorado.
Interment will take place at Delta City Cemetery. Viewing
will be held from 1 - 1:50 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel.
Opal A. Myers was born on November 28, 1922 in Yuma, Colorado to Francis I. and Dollie M. (O’Neal) Myers. At the age of three, Opal and her family moved to Delta, Colorado in a covered wagon. She attended school in Delta.
Opal married the love of her life, Harold F. Weams on July 23,
1938 in Delta. Harold and Opal owned the Mobil Gas Station in Delta for many years.
She enjoyed gardening and canning; sharing the bounty of
both vegetables and flowers with her family and friends. She also enjoyed candle making and decorating with Harold for several years. She loved her family and enjoyed many family dinners with her great cooking. Opal loved to bake pies and was always ready to share with family and friends. There has never been a more wonderful caregiver than Opal.
Those grateful to have shared her life are her three daughters, Alice Joyce of Montrose, Colorado; Dorothy (Merritt) Vanderhoofven and June (James) Schendel, all of Grand Junction, Colorado; brother, Don Myers of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; two sisters, Lola Bangert of Grand Junction, Colorado and Ione Kearns of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Harold; an infant son, Franklin; son, Bob; son-in-law, Reid Joyce; grandson, Kerry Joyce; three brothers and four sisters.
The family suggests memorial contributions to be made in Opal’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
