Helen May Gurske of Hayden died Dec. 16, 2001, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins. She was 55. She was born July 6, 1946, the daughter of Chester and Jo Nell Backes of Milner. She married Robert Gurske of Gresham, Ore. April 15, 1970, in Steamboat Springs.
She is preceded in death by her sister Barbara Stine. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Gerski of Hayden; two daughters, Kathy Squires of Colbran and Heather Carson of Craig; five grandchildren, Robert and Ashley Squires, Kaylee and Cory Carson and Caleb Herndon; her parents; her sister, Sue Lewis; three brothers, Joe, Lary and Ralph Backes and fifteen nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Dec. 20 at the First Baptist Church in Hayden. Interment was at the Hayden Cemetery.
Peterson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
