Richard "Dick" Dilling
September 5, 1940 - July 13, 2015
Dick was born September 5, 1940, to Woodrow and Grace Dilling, in Idaville, Indiana.
Growing up he loved playing sports, and was especially passionate about basketball.
At the age of 18, Dick married the love of his life, Iris.
Together, they had two children, Cynthia and Rick. Dick maintained his love of sports throughout his life, this included coaching Little League. In 1973, Dick and his family moved to Colorado where he acted as owner-operator of the West Vail Texaco, for 30 years. They bought their home in Palisade, in 1986, where Dick passed away on July 13, 2015.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, and his
sister, Betty Voss. He is survived by his wife, Iris Dilling; son,
Rick Dilling, and four grandchildren, Tangi (Amador) Stock;
Tacia (Travis) Tullio; Wyatt Dilling, and Jacob Dilling; three
great-grandchildren, Hunter Thompson, Hannah Thompson, and Kenzley Stock, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dick’s pride and joy was his family. He loved being with all of
“his kids,” and spoiling them all rotten! He will be loved, and
his memory will be cherished by all those whom were blessed to share his life with him.
A visitation was held yesterday, Thursday, July 16, at the
Palisade Funeral Home. Funeral services will commence at
11:00 a.m., today, Friday, July 17, at the funeral home, with
interment to follow at Palisade Municipal Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name and memory to the Palisade Nazarene Church of Palisade, Colorado.
Arrangements were entrusted to Palisade Funeral Home.

If you lived in Vail from 1970-1990 then chances are you knew Dick Dilling (owner of the West Vail Texaco, now the West Vail Shell owned by his son, Rick Dilling)

Dick was born Sept. 5, 1940, to Woodrow and Grace Dilling, in Idaville, Indiana. Growing up, he loved playing sports and was especially passionate about basketball.
