Doris Archuleta, 103, Grand Junction, died Dec. 12, 2014, at
HopeWest Care Center.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary, followed by a rosary at 6 p.m. Services will be at 11 a.m.
Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by interment at Orchard
Mesa Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Greenmun and Helen
Wellington, both of Grand Junction; one sister, Sarah Kilman of
Lovell, Wyoming; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
and five great-great-grandchildren.

Doris left us on December 12,
2014, to be with her Lord and Savior.
Doris was born on October 2,
1911, in Monte Vista, CO to Anthony
and Emelia Albori Ortega.
Doris’ mother died when she
was eight months old. When just a
child, the family traveled to Sugar
City in a covered wagon. They settled
in Grand Junction when Doris was five years old. Her father was
killed when struck by a car in 1923. Doris and her sister, Sarah, were
raised by their 18 year old brother, Mace. Doris attended school at
Riverside and St. Joseph’s school. She married P.J. Archuleta at age 15,
from this union, she had three children Gilbert, Mary Alice and Helen.
Doris worked at the State Line Store for eight years before opening
her own business, The Highway Café in Mack, CO. She operated the
The Highway Café for 20 years and retired at age 80. Doris also taught
Catechism in Fruita, CO for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, husband
and son. She is survived by her sister, Sarah Kilman of Lovell, WY;
daughter, Mary Alice Greenmun and Helen Wellington both of Grand
Junction, CO; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and eight
great-great-grandchildren.
