Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 3 D Obituary - December 18, 2014
Wilma Hettie Foster “Granny”
was born on April 28, 1923,
to James and Mittie Burnham
in Crystal Springs, Mississippi.
Granny lost her parents at an early
age. She was raised by family
in Mississippi until she moved to
California and became a nurse.
There she met her prince charming,
John G. Foster “Poppy”.
Granny and Poppy were married on June 25, 1960 in Winnemucca,
Nevada. In 1969 they relocated to Colorado. They were blessed with
the younger loves of their lives, their wonderful son, Ronald Foster and
their beautiful daughter, Jacquieline Sawyer.
Granny worked as a nurse at Mesa Memorial and Hospice. She was
an amazing generous lady. She loved to cook. Her biscuits and gravy
will be very missed as well. They retired to a small farm in Grand Junction.
Granny loved to go on adventures with Poppy. She enjoyed spending
time with her family, fishing, camping and quiet rides through the
mountains.
Our beloved Granny went to sing with the angels on December 15,
2014. She was 91 years young.
Granny is survived by her prince charming, John G. Foster of
Grand Junction; her prince and princess, Ronald Foster and Jacquieline
(Philip) Sawyer; her grandson, Christopher (Meleta) Baker; her
great-grandchildren, Tray (Darcy) Baker, Christopher Youngblood,
Shaylen Youngblood, Journie Baker, Nevaeh Baker, Jason Baker and
Michael Baker; her great-great-grandson, Oliver Baker and another
bun in the oven.
