Debora "Debbie" Ann Ely
March 21, 1953 - January 11, 2015
Debbie was born March 21, 1953, to Viola Fleming, in Tacoma, Washington. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at HopeWest Hospice Center on January 11, 2015, after her year long battle against cancer.
Debbie’s childhood was spent growing up in Grand Junction,
where she enjoyed riding horses and tractors and playing on the farm. She attended Central High School. The main hobbies that she enjoyed were softball, bowling, golfing, and her numerous trips to Vegas and Black Hawk with her friends and family. She always had a standing card game every week with her Uncle Dick and Cousin Linda. In 2004, she became the first woman in Grand Junction to ever bowl a 300. Deb participated in many golf tournaments in and around the Grand Junction area and always looked forward to spending that time with her friends.
Even after being diagnosed with cancer in late 2013, she never lost her positive attitude and the ability to make people smile.
She made friends wherever she went and rarely met a stranger.
Debbie began working for Monument Well Service in 2005 and worked there until her passing. Prior to working at Monument Well, she worked at Western Implement for over 30 years, where she met the love of her life, Carroll.
Survivors include her husband of 16 and one half years,
Carroll; daughter, Terri (Dustin) Shepardson of Fruita; stepdaughters, Robin Ely and Connie Olson, both of Grand
Junction; step-sons, David Ely of Palisade and Steve Ely of
Boulder; five grandchildren, and countless friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Viola Fleming.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 24,
2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Chipeta Golf Course, 222 29 Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her
name to HopeWest Hospice, 3090B North 12th Street, Grand
Junction, Colorado 81506.
