Rose Chiaro Loitz
April 20, 1926 - January 13, 2015
Rose C. Loitz died Tuesday in Escondido, CA surrounded by many loved ones. Although she has lived in California for several years, Rosie was born and raised in Grand Junction, CO to Joseph and Rosina Chiaro.
Rose worked for the War Department
as a secretary and Deputy Clerk of the District Court in Grand Junction. She retired from the Defense Department at March Air Force Base in California.
Rose married Herb Mertz, and the union produced four children, Kathy Russell of Escondido, CA; Garreth Dario of Pahoa, HI; Steve Mertz of Denver, CO, and Conni Walz of Annapolis, MD.
Rose was an avid writer and pinochle player. She had been recently working on a novel about life in Grand Junction in the early 1900s.
Rose is survived by her four children; two grandchildren, and
four great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Lucy Shuey of Murietta,CA, and Angie Sinnott of San Lorenzo, CA.
After funeral services at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, she
will be laid to rest at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Escondido, January 16th.
