Donald Earl Sheley, 87, Clifton, died Jan. 19, 2015, at St. Mary’s
Hospital.
A viewing will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Clifton Christian Church. Services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Clifton Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; five sons, Robert, Russell,
Thomas, Jeff, and Brian; three daughters, Terry Hardy, Karen Jennings and Julie Harrington; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Donald "Don" Earl Sheley
November 16, 1927 - January 19, 2015
Born November 16, 1927, to Ben and Lela Sheley, in Gashland, Missouri, he returned to his Lord and Savior January 19, 2015. Donspent his early childhood in Beaver City, Nebraska. He moved to Clifton in 1941, with his parents. In 1945, he graduated from Clifton High School. In 1947, he went to work for Colorado Highway Department, where he worked for the next 42 years, retiring in 1989.
On June 19, 1949, Don married Margaret Trevethan. This
marriage lasted 54 years. They moved back to Clifton, in 1956, where he has resided ever since. At that time, he became an active member at Clifton Christian Church. He started as a deacon, two years later, he became an elder; and eventually was confirmed as a lifetime elder. During his time in Clifton, he also served on the Clifton Sanitation District #1 Board, for over thirty years. On November 13, 2004, Don married Helen
Hatcher Sheley, uniting two families, in friendship and love.
They enjoyed ten wonderful years together.
Don was preceded in death by Margaret; to that union were
born Terry Hardy, Grand Junction; Robert, Nucla; Tom
(Kristen), Grand Junction, and Brian (Lorrie), Fruita. His union
with Helen brought step-children, Karen (David) Jennings,
Florence, AZ; Russell and fiancé, Wendy Chou, Farmington,
NM; Jeff and (Stacy), Grand Junction, and Julie (Andrew)
Harrington, Telluride. The family includes twenty-one
grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and one greatgreat-grandchild.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.,
Saturday, January 24th, 2015, at Clifton Christian Church of
Clifton, Colorado. Funeral services will be held at Clifton
Christian Church, beginning at 1:00 p.m., following the
viewing.
Memorial contributions may be made to Clifton Christian
Church or Christian Community Schools.
Services are entrusted to Palisade Funeral Home of Palisade,
Colorado.
