Edward John Hoaglund passed away at home in Rulison on December
25, 2014.
He was born to Arden and Gertrude (Niller) Hoaglund on August 13,
1937, in Aspen, Colorado.
Ed served in the US Army from 1960 to 1966. On August 10, 1967,
he married Ida Lee Nordstrom.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Darrell
Hoaglund. He is survived by his wife, Ida; sons, Charles Hoaglund and
Ralph “Dusty” Hoaglund (Candy); two sisters, Ardis Green and Edith
Power. He is also survived by grandchildren, Mike Warren, Scott Hoaglund,
Kellen Bowen, Brayson and Angie Koontz, Sean and Samantha,
Casey and Luke Roman, and great-grandchildren, London Warren,
Strider Warren, Cody Roman, Aurora and Jordan Koontz, and Shoelie
and Shyla.
Ed was a kind, generous man who valued a hard day’s work. Most of
his life was spent farming in Rulison on a ranch he loved. He had a profound
knowledge of Rulison history and could always recall significant
dates from throughout his life. Always honest, he was a humble man
who made many friends and touched many lives. He will be missed.
A viewing will take place Thursday, January 1, 2015, from 10:00 a.m.
to 12:00 p.m. A funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January
2, 2015, at the First Christian Church, 306 East 3rd Street. Burial will
follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Rifle.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the Rifle
Animal Shelter at P.O. Box 1375, Rifle, Colorado 81650.
