Charles W. Webster, 83, Fruita, died Nov. 21, 2014, at St. Mary’s
Hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Matthew’s Episcopal
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lucia; one son, David of Vista, California;
two daughters, Cherie Martinez of Glade Park and Cathy
Schroeder of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Waynelle Wilder of Denver;
eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Charles, age 83, was born in Denver,
Colorado to Floyd W. Webster
and Jeanelle M. McFarland. He
passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital,
Friday, November 21, 2014.
He was raised in the Denver area,
graduating in 1949 from Lakewood
High School. He joined the
Coast Guard in 1951, being stationed
in the Pacific Theater and
Kenosha, Wisconsin where he met his wife Lucia C. Caldart. They
were married August 21, 1954 in Kenosha, moved to Greeley, Colorado
after their honeymoon where Chuck attended Colorado State College,
and their son David was born. Upon graduation they moved to
Mancos, Colorado where daughters, Cherie and Cathy were born. They
moved to Fruita, Colorado in the fall of 1960 where he taught in School
District 51 for 27 years.
Chuck was very involved in Mesa Valley Education Association, serving
as President and on the negotiation team. He was a delegate for
Colorado National Education Association conventions. He was very
active in many committees during his tenure. He was also nominated
for Teacher of the Year in 1975.
He retired in the spring of 1987. He and wife, Lucia, enjoyed being
snowbirds in Mesa, Arizona for 15 years and then summered at Blue
Mesa where he was a seasonal park ranger.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucia; his sister, Waynelle
Wilder; son, David (Gina) of Vista, California; daughter, Cherie (Joel)
Martinez of Glade Park, and Cathy (Charles) Schroeder of Wichita,
Kansas. He was grandfather to Joel Martinez Jr., Clint Knopp, Jon
Martinez, Michael Martinez, Lucas Knopp, Patrick Schroeder, Christopher
Schroeder, and Jeffrey Schroeder; and nine great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at
St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon reception will
follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks donation be made to St. Matthews
Episcopal Church, 3888 27 ½ Road, Grand Junction, CO 81506
