Jeanne Cass
February 1, 1925 - January 20, 2015
Charlotte Cass, our dear mother passed away at the age 89, just shy of her 90th birthday on February 1.
She was born Charlotte Jeanne Booth, the daughter of James Leonard Booth and Charlotte Maud Shoults on February 1, 1925 in Mack, Colorado. She spent her childhood days in Mack and graduated from Fruita Union High School. She was one of five children.
She fell in love with our father, Erwin Douglass Cass, when
they lived in the Redlands as neighbors. They married shortly
after WWII on September 12, 1944. Charlotte and Erv’s roots
ran deep on their home on the Redlands and after marriage they purchased a plot of land on the Redlands and began to build their house. They actually started to dig the hole for their
basement foundation by hand with a pick and shovel. They were some of the first people living on the Redlands at that time.
Charlotte started her career as a telephone operator for
Mountain Bell Telephone Company in 1950, and retired as a
clerk in the engineering department in the late 1970’s. She
attended the Ross Business College in Grand Junction.
Charlotte and Erv loved their trips to Lake Powell with friends
and family. They also loved to travel the United States. They
shared a cabin on the Grand Mesa with family for many years
and loved the mountains and fishing trips. Charlotte loved her
family dearly and fiercely supported them through all their trials and tribulations.
Charlotte leaves behind her three children, son, Daniel (Kim)
Cass of Grand Junction, CO; daughters, Candy Phipps of
Stillwater, OK, and Kim (Tim) Brophy of Price, UT; six
grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a nephew, Jimmy Booth of Rifle.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January
30, 2015, at Martin Mortuary with a visitation time from 10-
11:00 a.m. prior to services. Burial will follow services at
Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made
to HopeWest Hospice, 3090B N 12th St., Grand Junction, CO
81506.
