Mervin Leroy Einspahr
December 3, 1923 - March 24, 2015
Mervin Leroy Einspahr, 91, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on March 24, 2015, at his home in assisted living. He passed peacefully while visiting with his sister.
A memorial service will be held in Sun City, Arizona, on Thursday, April 2, at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday,
April 6, at Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita, Colorado.
Mervin was born on December 3, 1923, to Clifford and Lillian
Einspahr in Clearwater, Nebraska, the third of four children.
The family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1942.
There he became certified as a welder and worked building
landing craft for the war effort.
He met his future wife, Lois Gilland, there and they were
married in Raton, New Mexico on August 21, 1945. They
moved to Payette, Idaho where his son, Ron and daughter,
Connie were born. In 1955, they moved to Grand Junction,
Colorado, where he became the shop foreman for Laycock
Motors. He then opened his own garage and service station
which he operated until 1969. He and a partner formed Valley
Refuse Removal which he sold in 1982 at which time he retired.
In May of 2010 they moved to Peoria, Arizona, moving to
assisted living in August of 2011.
Mervin is survived by his wife, Lois; sister, Opal (Harold) of
Boise, Idaho; his son, Ron (Nancy) of Fruita, Colorado, and his daughter, Connie (Lee) of Peoria, Arizona. There are four
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
