Ruth B. Velarde
October 16, 1912 - April 4, 2015
Ruth Velarde, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away peacefully
at her home on April 4, 2015, she was 102.
Ruth was born on October 16, 1912, in Questa, New Mexico
from the union of Juan and Vicentita Valdez. She lived in Albuquerque,
New Mexico, where she met Phil Verlarde and they
owned dry cleaners called “Keep You Neat Cleaners”. Ruth was very proficient in tailoring, and a great seamstress.
Ruth moved to the Grand Junction area in 1950, and was a
member of the Zion Spanish Assembly of God Church (Junction Community Church).
Ruth leaves behind her sister, Cora Ulibarri of Fruita, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joe
and Adonais Valdez, and a sister, Fedrecika "Freddy" Herrera.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 9,
2015 at Martin Mortuary with a visitation time from 5-7:00 p.m. prior to services. Committal services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2015, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Ruth Velarde, 102, Fruita, died April 4, 2015, at her home.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday with services to follow
at Martin Mortuary. Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Verlarde was a homemaker.
Survivors include one sister, Cora Ulibarri of Fruita.
