Pastor Allan E. Buck
November 8, 1924 - April 11, 2015
Allan Buck passed away at age 90 on April 11, 2015, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Sin was the cause of death because “sin entered the world and death by sin, Romans 5:12”.
Allan was born to Ray and Nellie Buck in Janesville, Wisconsin. He graduated from Cincinnati Bible Seminary in 1947. While working for a church in southern Ohio he knocked on the door of the Pummell household. Virginia “Jill” Pummell answered that door. Maybe it was something spiritual that happened; but their lives were forever intertwined when he proposed marriage on their very first date.
The couple married on May 17, 1947, and later moved to Algonac, Michigan where he was the beloved pastor of the Algonac Baptist Church for 38 years.
Allan was a fine musician who played the violin and was also
the choir director during his entire ministry.
The marriage was blessed with three children, Bradford,
Marty, and Jonean. While serving in the U.S. Navy Brad was
killed by an Eritrean rebel and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in May, 1975. Marty lives in Bakersfield, California with his wife Crystal. Jonean Detrick lives in Taylorsville, Utah.
Married for 67 years, Allan is survived by his wife, Jill and
their children, Marty and Jonean. They have five grandchildren, Joshua Roseberry, Chelsea Higgs, Whitney Roseberry, Megan Bolender, and Austin (Allan) Buck. They are blessed to have four great-grandchildren.
Pastor Buck will forever be known as a faithful servant to his
wife, his family, his church, and his Lord. He will be
remembered for his beautiful feet because Isaiah 52:7 says
“How beautiful...are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim
salvation…”
Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 11:00
a.m. in the mausoleum building at Grand Junction Memorial
Gardens, 2970 North Avenue, Grand Junction, CO.
