James W. Hockett
January 31, 1962 - April 15, 2015
A wonderful man was born to Chancey and Helen Hockett on January 31, 1962. He grew up in the Appleton area, attending Appleton Elementary, and graduating from Fruita Monument High School in 1980.
Jim’s career led him down many exciting paths. He worked for dairy farmers, Sunstrand, and CoorsTek Medical, along with other various jobs.
A man with a zest for knowledge, he obtained two degrees, an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts and an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Jim’s ultimate past time was building models. He was a
dedicated member of Grand Junction Scale Modeleers Society, as well as the International Plastic Modelers Society. Jim was also a member of Jaycees.
Jim married Angelina on July 21, 2001, and they shared many wonderful times together. This union gave Jim two stepchildren, Charlene (Mike) Thomas and Danny Westbrook. He was a proud Papa to Allison and Kyler, whom he adored with all his heart.
He is survived by his Mom, Helen Hockett; brother, Tom
Hockett; two nieces, one nephew, and many more family
members and friends.
Jim will be remembered for his love of Sherman Tanks, John
Deere, and frogs. Jim’s dry, witty humor, vast knowledge, quiet ways and warm heart will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of life will be Friday, April 24, 2015, at
Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. with
services following. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at Crown
