Mrs. Johanna HOLLAND, mother of J. J. and J. W. Holland of Wolcott, died very suddenly from a stroke of paralysis at the home of her son, J. W. HOLLAND, last Saturday, August 6. Mrs. HOLLAND was one of the pioneers of Colorado and the Western Slope, and was very aged. The body was shipped to Leadville Monday for burial beside that of her husband who preceded her in death many years ago. The Leadville Herald Democrat of Wednesday had the following account of the deceased's funeral:
"The remains of Mrs. Johanna HOLLAND were laid at rest in Evergreen cemetery yesterday beside the grave of her husband, the late Jeremiah HOLLAND. The Rev. William J. O'MALLEY sang the requiem mass in the Church of the Annunciation assisted by the choir. Rev. Father KEATING read the committal service at the grave. An unusually large funeral cortege followed the remains to the cemetery. The floral tokens came from various parts of the state, including Leadville, and were many and beautiful. Out-of-the-city people who attended the funeral were Mrs. J. M. HARRINGTON, Denver; A. M HOLLAND and Chas. KEEGAN, Glenwood; Mrs. J. LEARY, Miss CAPINACKER, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. HOLLAND, and Mr. and Mrs. John HOLLAND, Wolcott; Mr. and Mrs. J. J. O'NEILL and J. K. MAHONEY, Avon. The pall bearers were all old friends of the deceased: D. J. O'NEILL, J. J. O'NEILL, J. K. MAHONEY, John MAHONEY, Dennis MURPHY, and Patrick SULLIVAN. The funeral cortege proceeded from the home of a daughter of the deceased, Mrs. Dennis SULLIVAN.
