EDITOR J.S. SWAN DEAD.
Joseph S. SWAN, the well known Democratic newspaper editor, died at his home in DeBeque Sunday, October 31. Mr. SWAN had been dangerously ill for some time and his death was not unexpected. He is survived by a widow, two daughters and a brother.
Mr. SWAN was register and receiver of the U.S. land office at Glenwood from 1887 to 1900 and was also commissioner of forests, fish and game under Gov. ADAMS. At the time of his death he was editor of the DeBeque Bugle. He was one of the most prominent men in this section of the state and his public career was a useful one.
The deceased was a Knight Templer, a Mystic Shriner, a member of El Jebel Temple of Denver, and a member of the Woodmen of the World.
The funeral was held at Glenwood last Tuesday where the body was interred in the Rosebud cemetery.
