He is survived by his wife, Carol; four sons, Donald Mackey, Kenneth
Mackey, Alan Mackey and Joshua Lounds; four daughters,
Kathryn Thomason, Candice Gaboury, Brandi Nelson and Crystal
Crawford; one brother, Delbert; two sisters, Ellen Toyne and Lucille
Paulson; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Tom Mackey 79, passed
away at his home on June
2nd, 2015.
Tom was born at home to
Chester and Kathryn Mackey
of Weld County. In 1955, he
moved to De Beque with his
parents and siblings. They
ranched and lived up Roan
Creek until Tom went to work
for Bob and John Latham.
Tom developed a love of John Deere tractors and the ranching
life, at one time owning cattle of his own.
He was an active community member serving on the De Beque
School Board, the Town Counsel and a 4-H leader for over 50
years with the Roan Creek Boosters. Tom was a father and
mentor to many. After 50 years with Latham Ranches he retired
and moved to Parachute Colorado with his wife, Carol. Tom
was loved and respected by many and will be sorely missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Kathryn
Mackey. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of 20 years;
his children, Donald (Jeanette) Mackey, Ken (Ronda) Mackey,
Alan (Marge) Mackey, Kathy (Kirk) Thomason, Candice (Jerry)
Gaboury, Brandi (Casey) Nelson, and Josh Lownds; stepdaughter,
Crystal Crawford; 20 grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren;
sisters, Ellen (Dooley) Toyne, and Lucille
(Larry) Paulson; brother, Delbert (Sue) Mackey, many nieces
and nephews and his furry four legged best friend, Guffy!!
Please join us in a Celebration of Life for Tom on Wednesday,
June 17th, 4:00 p.m., De Beque High School. Reception
following at De Beque Community Center.
