He was born in Loma, CO
on June 13, 1949, to Cyrus
and Beatrice (Valerio) Padia
and grew up on his parents
farm with his brother and two
sisters. He attended Loma
Elementary and graduated
from Fruita High School.
On February 1, 1968, he
joined the US Air Force and
served honorably for four
years. Upon his return from military service he was employed
by the US Department of Agriculture as an inspector and retired
in 2012 after 30 years of service.
On February 20, 1981, he and Sherry Edie were married in Las
Vegas, Nevada.
Leon is survived by his wife, Sherry; three sons, Tony, Randy
and Andy; a brother, Albert (Dianna) Padia; and sisters, Cecilia
Padia and Josephine (Louis) Roybal.
Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be at
Sacred Heart Church in Fruita, CO on Monday, March 30, at
11:00 a.m. with Father Michael Smith officiating. A Military
Honor Guard Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m. at Veterans
Memorial Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Parkway, in Grand
Junction.
