Richard N. Stoddard of Steamboat Springs died July 14, 2001 at his home. He was 76.
He was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Conneaut, Ohio to Taft and Anna (Kane) Stoddard. He married Gail Smith Sept. 10, 1955, in Las Cruces, N.M.
Richard was a career U.S. Army Colonel.
He retired in 1978.
His military service began in 1942 and continued through World War II and the Vietnam era.
He was a graduate of Ohio State University and completed some graduate work in business administration.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; five children, Erik, Anne, Taft, Amy and Matthew; a granddaughter, Shannon; and a brother, Charles Stoddard.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Full military honors will be held for Richard at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia on Tues., Aug.7.
Peterson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
