Harley Lee Seybold, "JR"
February 3, 1972 - June 22, 2015
Harley Lee Seybold, Jr., age 43, died June 22, 2015, in South Carolina of suicide.
Born February 3, 1972, in Grand Junction to Harley and Toni (Kovacic) Seybold, he graduated in 1991 from GJHS and from Columbia, SC Fire Academy. He served the U.S. Army Reserve in Panama.
In 1990, he married Serenity Huntzinger, together they had one son, Jesse; they were later divorced. He recently became
grandfather to Atticus (son of Jesse and Tiffany). He moved to SC in 1996, married Tiffany Harvey, together they had three children, Chase, Cole and Kiersten; they were divorced. He fathered another son, Triston (age 2) of SC.
JR worked at Sealed-Air Cryovac in their Simpsonville Plant
as operator/supervisor since 2001. He was part of Cryovac Fire Brigade, a recent graduate of their two year Leadership
Program.
He was a man of faith, kind and gentle, and a devoted father.
His happiest moments were with his children. He volunteered
as a Young Marines mentor, at their schools, and church. Those who knew him remember him for his generosity, love and respect for everyone.
His adult life was a struggle, fighting the torment of severe
depression and PTSD. He was recently diagnosed with a blood disease which attacked his organs. The struggle became to much for him; he took his life.
In addition to his children and grandson, he is survived by his
mother and step-father, Toni and Andy Rubalcaba; sister, Lisa Cameron-Carr; nephews, Christopher and Nicholas Cameron.
JR loved Colorado, his wish was to come back. He was
especially close to his grandpa Kovacic with whom he was
buried on July 1. Jesse provided a powerful eulogy at his
father’s Funeral Mass. His beloved step-grandmother, Mary
Rubalcaba attended to say her last goodbye just 10 days before her passing on July 11.
Special thank you to Father Plough and the Parish staff of IHM for the beautiful Funeral Mass and the ladies who provided a lovely luncheon. Thank you to the many friends and family who provided love and support, cards, food, flowers, donations.
Lastly, a very special thank you to the staff at Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary for their outstanding service.
