Eva E. "Liz" Radakovich
(Fangman), died Wednesday,
July 14, 2015, at the Salem
Memorial Hospital, Salem, Oregon.
Liz was born on March 7,
1925, in Mosca, Colorado.
She grew up in Colorado, and
graduated from Grand Junction
High School in 1943.
She met her future husband in April 1944, Daniel Radakovich,
who was convalescing at the US Naval Hospital in Glenwood
Springs, Colorado after his return from Tarawa with the survivors
of the 2nd Marine Division. They were married on June 30,
1945 at the base chapel, Mare Island, California.
After the war, they resided in Wyandotte, Michigan until her
husband’s death in 1960. Liz then moved back to Colorado to be
with her family and raise her two sons. During this period she
was employed by Mesa Federal Savings and Loan, and rose
from teller to treasurer until her retirement in 1991. Liz then
moved to Salem, Oregon to be with her oldest son and his family.
Liz made many friends over the years in Michigan, Colorado
and Oregon. She was a devout Catholic and faithfully attended
services throughout her life. She enjoyed family, friends, golf,
walking and reading.
Liz’s final stroke occurred at the end of the Mass she was attending
with her daughter-in-law last Saturday evening at Queen
of Peace Parish. She never regained consciousness and died the
next Tuesday morning.
Liz was preceded in death by her father, Anthony F. Fangman;
her mother, Sophia Lempleius; her sister, Dorothy Stephens; her
brother, Anthony "Tony" Fangman, and her husband, Daniel
Radakovich. She is survived by her two sons, Daniel and
George; daughter-in-law, Paula, six grandchildren, and seven
great-grandchildren.
The family requests no flowers, donations or gifts be brought
or offered. Instead, please donate to your family or charity in
Liz’s name if you so choose.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on September 26,
2015 at Delta City Cemetery.
