A memorial service for
Morris Thompson will be held
at 10:00 a.m., Thursday,
September 3, 2015, at All
Saints Lutheran Church in
Cory, Colorado. Morris
passed away on Sunday,
August 30, 2015, at HopeWest
Care Center in Grand Junction
to be with his Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.
Morris was born in Estelline, South Dakota on December 15,
1926 on the Thompson homestead to Henry and Dora
Thompson. Before moving to Austin, Colorado, with his family
in 1971, he managed the family farm.
He held offices in church, school board, and the NFO. He was
a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, which he helped
build. He worked in a local coal mine and as a carpenter. He
was a member of Good Sams Camping Club. He loved to work
in the yard, play games, travel, bowl, and read. He loved ice
cream and chocolate chip cookies. He also liked to spend time
with the family.
Morris is survived by his children, Connie (Kip) Strommenger
of Delta; LuAnn (Brad) Harrah of Grand Junction; Rev. Mark
(Ruth) Thompson of Delta; Dr. Cheri (Dr. Brett) King of
Westminster, and Penny (Duane) Morton of Delta;
grandchildren, Angela (Chris) Walter; Nathan (Maggie)
Strommenger; Andy Strommenger; Kree (Burt) Vincelette,
Norah Strommenger; Ashley (Devin) Varner; Ben Thompson;
Devin King; Brady King, and Tylyn King; great-grandchildren,
Adam (Celia) Strommenger, Alex Strommenger, Isabell
Stecklein, Cameron Strommenger, Avery Strommenger; Cooper
and Della Vincelette, Lincoln, and Emmett Varner; sister,
Dorothy Mensch of Minnesota, and sister-in-law, Judy Arnold
of Iowa. Morris was preceded in death by wife, Lorraine;
parents, and brother, Lloyd .
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor
Funeral Service and Crematory.
