Shirley Mae Jarrad
April 20, 1936 - July 29, 2015
Shirley Mae Jarrad, age 79, died at her Grand Junction home July 29, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. She died of cancer, which had been diagnosed only 17 days prior.
She was born in Keokuk, Iowa where she spent her early childhood before moving to Grand Junction in 1950.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.B. Jarrad, Jr.;
son, Kenneth Jarrad, and great-granddaughter, Reece Jarrad.
Shirley is survived by sons, Steve (Sheron) Jarrad of Berthoud, CO, and Leon (Saundra) Jarrad of Las Vegas, NV;
grandchildren, Stefany (Justin) Dant, Greeley, CO; Scott Jarrad, Berthoud, CO, and Amy (Daniel) Barajas, Denver, CO; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald (Starr) Smith, San Diego, CA; Max (Sharon) Smith, Grand Junction, CO, and Donna (William) Christiansen, Grand Junction, CO, and numerous nieces, and nephews. Shirley continually emphasized the unity of family was among her strongest and most proud of life’s achievements. Watching hummingbirds from her dining room window was perhaps her most enjoyment during her retirement years.
Graveside services will be held Monday, August 3, 2015, at
10:00 a.m. at Memorial Gardens, Grand Junction.
