Clair Leroy Strouse, age 68,
of Grand Junction, Colorado
passed away September 1,
2015, at the Veterans Affairs
Medical Center in Grand
Junction.
Clair was born January 6,
1947, to Lyle and Leona
(Willis) Strouse in Denver,
Colorado. He served his
country in the United States
Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, entering the
service in 1965, and being honorably discharged in 1969. He
was a skilled carpenter and spent most of his life building
beautiful homes throughout Colorado, Arizona, Oklahoma and
retired as a construction superintendent in Texas.
A talented football player in high school and the Navy, he
continued his athletic pursuits during his life playing and
officiating softball. Later in life, he volunteered much of his
time at Habitat for Humanity. His favorite things were hunting
and fishing, country western dancing, and most of all,
enthusiastically cheering on his children and grandchildren as
they followed their own pursuits.
Clair is survived by his brothers, Bill (Janie), Steve (Gloria),
Marvin (Shirley), and David (Cheryl); son, Douglas (Marta);
daughter, Heather, and his grandchildren, Dustin, Hailey,
Cassandra, Constanca, Tyler, and Emma and numerous nieces
and nephews.
He will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Veterans
Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction,
Colorado on Wednesday, September 9th at 3:00 p.m.
