Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 6 A Obituary - September 15, 2015

Following a long illness,
Harold C. Sheader, 94, died
Thursday, September 10th,
2015, in the company loved
ones and kind caregivers.
He leaves Lorraine, his
beloved wife of nearly 76
years; two sons, Dennis
(Glenna) and Joseph (Linda);
seven grandchildren, Ed, Wes,
Lorie, Matt, Phil, Kerry, and
Lorien; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren.
Born in Boulder to Joseph Henry and Viola Sheader, he was a
lifelong Colorado resident, living in Grand Junction since 1984.
Harold worked on his family’s farm in Lafayette, then entered
the Civilian Conservation Corps in Rocky Mountain National
Park. All this while, he courted Lorraine, and they married in
November 1939. He served a short tenure in the U.S. Navy,
worked as a milkman, a TV repairman, at Gates Rubber
Company, then at Coors Brewery as a line supervisor until he
retired. He was known for his moral character, generosity, work
ethic, and inventions, including the coiled radiator hose and the
RV automatic water pump.
To his last years he devoted time to family and friends
whenever they needed help. Harold never met a stranger. He
was accomplished at sports, especially baseball, but he really
loved fishing, camping, hunting, and watching football. In his
seventies, he began painting, and his beautiful works won
awards. He had a great singing voice and loved gardening.
The funeral service is at 10:00 a.m. September 16 at Callahan-
Edfast Mortuary presided by Rev. Chuck Jerome. Concluding
service and interment will follow at New Elmwood Cemetery.
