Judy Ilene Kresl
July 27, 1950 - October 11, 2015
Judy Ilene Kresl, beloved wife and mother, joined our Father in Heaven on October 11, 2015, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver. She was 65. Judy spent her time on Earth as a "Domestic Goddess".
Judy was born on July 27, 1950, to Marvin Charles Laman and Iva Caroline Laman (Decker) in Kremmling, CO. Her childhood was spent on various ranches around the McCoy, CO area. She attended school at the McCoy school until its closure and graduated from SoRoCo High School in Oak Creek, CO in 1968.
She met the love of her life, William Kresl II, in Phippsburg,
CO, and they were married on May 16, 1971. They began their life together in Phippsburg where their son, Robert, was born, then moved to Lakewood, CO, where their daughter, Willa, was born, and finally retired in Grand Junction, CO.
Judy loved to garden and had beautiful flower beds and
vegetable gardens. She also loved to do needlework and
beadwork and made some beautiful creations. She was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and had been Worthy Matron three times. Judy’s greatest accomplishment in life was being the amazing mother that she was. She took care of Robert, who had cerebral palsy, for 40 years and was an amazing caretaker for him. They did everything together. Judy also had many of Willa’s friends who adopted her as "Momma Judy" and she loved all of those kids as her own. So many people have said she was the strongest and most caring person they had ever met.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Bill, of
Grand Junction; mother, Iva, of McCoy, CO; son, William Kresl
III, of Phippsburg, CO; daughters, Terri Kurtenback, of
Centennial, CO; Susan Monet (Greg) of Anchorage, AK, and
Willa Pettit (Jimmy) of Grand Junction, CO; brothers, Marvin
Laman, Jr. (Vicki) of McCoy, CO; Jac Laman of McCoy, CO;
sisters, Jeanne Jensen of Richfield, UT; Cindy Laman of Silt,
CO; Katy Louthan (Zane) of Phippsburg, CO, and her niece,
raised as a sister, Lynn Simmons, of Hayden, CO. She is also
survived by nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and
numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin, and her son, Robert Lemwood Kresl.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday,
October 17, 2015, at Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction, CO.
Judy will be laid to rest at Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, CO,
at 1:00 Thursday, October 22, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to
Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive,
