Abijah L. "Bige" Cook passed away peacefully March 27, 2001.

Bige was born March 22, 1923, in Steamboat Springs to James W. Cook and Lillie Lewis Cook.

He married Viola Chillme July 24, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army in England and Germany.

He graduated from Montana State University in Missoula, Mont., with a degree in forestry and range management.

Bige was a kind and loving individual.

He was an avid skier and loved the outdoors.

His passing is saddening to those who knew him. He is gone from their sight, but not from their memories.

He is survived by his wife, Viola of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister, Muriel Hagan; a brother-in-law, Wilbert Hagan; and three nephews, Wilbert Jr., Ronald and Byron Hagan, all of Denver.

A graveside service was at 11 a.m. March 30, 2001, at Salt Lake City Cemetery, Fourth Avenue and "N" Street.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association.

Larkin Mortuary was in charge of funeral arrangements.
