Caroline Marie Wulf
March 6, 1921 - October 13, 2015
Marie Wulf died at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in De
Smet, SD.
Marie was born in Pierre SD to Kathryn Sonora Nordvold and
Charles Edward Ross. After Pearl Harbor and the beginning of
WWII, Marie, her brother and mother moved to California to
work in the war industry.
Marie met and married a fighter pilot, James Hitchcock who
was killed at the Battle of the Bulge in 1945. Marie and her
mother returned to Pierre where her daughter, Joyce was born.
In 1950 Marie and Joyce moved to Texas where she attended
TCU for three years before returning to Pierre where she married
Warren Wulf in 1957. They had a daughter Laurel. In 1959
the entire family moved to Palo Alto, CA. In 1973 the Wulf family
moved to Grand Junction, CO, where Warren raised bees,
Marie worked for the Oil Shale office and completed her B.A. at
Mesa College. Laurel went to high school.
Warren died in 1984 and Marie remained in Grand Junction.
Marie traveled extensively, played cards with friends, painted
and belonged to many senior groups.
After a brief period in Salt Lake City UT. Marie moved to De
Smet in 2007. She moved to Good Samaritan in 2012.
Marie is survived by her two daughters, a son in Law and her
brother Sivert Ross, his wife and family.
Following cremation her ashes will be interred in Riverside
Cemetery in Pierre, SD.
