Thomas E. KNIGHT, of Minturn, passed away at his home July 22, after an extended illness.
He first came to Eagle County in 1929 from Canon City and went to work for the Empire Zinc. Except for a few years during the depression, he worked continuously until his retirement in 1949.
He transferred his membership in the 100F to Gilman and was an active worker until his last illness.
Thomas KNIGHT was born near French Lick,Ind. May 28, 1886 and completed his education at Central Normal College, Ill. He first came to Colorado with his parents and brother, Robert in 1908.
Survivors are his wife, Sophie KNIGHT of Minturn; a son, Don of Carbondale; two daughters, Perlita GAUTHIER of Boulder and Betty Jo SCHMIDT of Roggen. Four grandchildren also survive: Patricia and Alan KNIGHT, Carbondale; Jack and Katherine SCHMIDT of Roggen.
Funeral services were conducted by Red Cliff Lodge No. 18 IOOF in Minturn Presbyterian Church, assisted by Reverend Geo. FITZGERALD, pastor. Pallbearers were: Richard SMITH, Oscar NELSON, Clarence WHITE, Clem MORELAND, James WHITE of Minturn; and Lionel Azanlay [sic AZOULAY] of Gunnison.
In addition to the family and friends of Eagle County, there attended his funeral services Mrs. W. B. HUTTON and Mrs. Roberta GOSS of Denver; Mrs. Marcelle Azanlay [sic AZOULAY] of Almont and Mr. and Mrs. Albert NEWBY and children of Carbondale.
