Zelda Mae Lake, 81, Grand Junction, died Nov. 6, 2015, at her
home.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with a funeral service at
10:30 a.m., on Thursday at the Callahan-Edfast Mortuary Chapel.
Mrs. Lake was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Harold; two sons, Richard Smith
of Austin and David Lake of Gastonia, North Carolina; four daughters,
Debbie Welsh and Sherry Maynes, both of Grand Junction,
Rebecca Carfield of Aiken, South Carolina, and Danette Lake of
Graniteville, South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren;
and four great-great-grandchildren.

Zelda Mae Lake, 81, of
Grand Junction went to be
with her heavenly Father on
November 6, 2015. She was
born March 8, 1934, to C.
Norton and Grace Harrell in
Miami, Florida.
Zelda married Ralph Smith
in 1950. They were married
for 22 years and had four
children together, Debbie,
Rebecca, Richard, and Sherry. Zelda married Harold Lake in
1974. They had a wonderful 41 years together. Zelda became
“Mom” to Harold’s children, David, Darrell, and Danette. She
was a loving mother and was always there when we needed her.
Zelda was a devoted member of Valley Church of Christ. She
loved God and her family with all her heart. Zelda was a
wonderful homemaker, loved to cook, loved being with family,
enjoyed playing cards, reading, puzzles, and collecting dolls.
Zelda was preceded in death by her parents; her sister,
Lavonda Kennedy, and her son, Darrell Lake. She is survived by
her husband, Harold Lake; and children, Debbie (Emery)
Welsh, Rebecca (Ron) Carfield, Richard (Lee) Smith, Sherry
(Steve) Maynes, David Lake, and Danette Lake. She has 11
grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and four great-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 12, 2015; 9:30 - 10:30
a.m. at the Callahan-Edfast Mortuary Chapel with the Funeral at
10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at the Grand Junction
Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
