John S. Fulton of Allenspark died Nov. 19, 2000, at Estes Park Medical Center. He was 89.

John was born May 23, 1911, to Charles Lehow and Louise Bailey (Paroda) Fulton in Elkhead. He graduated from high school in Hayden and graduated from Colorado Agricultural College in Fort Collins in 1934 with a degree in civil engineering.

He served as a captain in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II and he was an engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation.

He married Florence White in 1936. They divorced in 1977. He married Betty Zumwinkel Butler in 1978 in Allenspark.

John enjoyed world traveling, square dancing, weaving and he was active in the Hilltop Guild of Allenspark.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Myra Jane Benson of Loveland and Paroda Wanda Brown of Evergreen; a sister, Alice Margaret Williams of Reno, Nev.; two brothers, Charles Fulton of Hayden and Clifford Fulton of Seguin, Wash.; a stepson, Daniel Raymond Butler of San Francisco; two stepdaughters, Joan M. Schiavo of Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif., and Susan Elizabeth Butler of Medford, Ore.; and four grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Charles White and John William; and a brother, Benjamin.

A private memorial service was held. He was cremated.
