Joyce Darlene James died Oct. 10 at her home in Montrose. She was 74.
Joyce was born to Arthur Ray Goree and Harriet Pearl (Boyles) Goree on May 24, 1926, in Hayden where she lived until adulthood.
She married Albert Neil "Bob" James on June 4, 1945, in Portland, Ore.
She accompanied her husband on several tours of duty with the U.S. Navy to the Far East. They traveled all over the world, living in Thailand, the Phillipine Islands and several states.
After her husband's death in 1989, Joyce lived in in Mission, Texas, and Denver. She moved to Montrose in 1998.
She is survived by a son, Grady James of Wheat Ridge; a sister, Edna Steffen of Montrose; a brother, Charles "Jay" Goree of Orlando, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Susan Bergtold of Radford, Va. and David James of Wheat Ridge.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Memorial services were held Oct. 18 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
