February 9, 1930 - November 4, 2015
Kathleen Dorothy Wallace
of Palisade, CO, went on to
Heaven on Wednesday,
November 4, 2015. She was
85.
Known to all as Katy, she
was born on February 9,
1930, in Los Angeles, CA, to
John L. Fullmer, Sr. and Ellen
Ericson Fullmer. The family moved to Grand Junction, CO, in
1937. Katy graduated from Grand Junction Central High
School.
On September 26, 1948, she married Lyman M. Wallace, and
together they had three children, Nancy, Juanita, and Galen.
Katy was a dedicated wife and mother, serving not only her
large extended family, but also reaching out to others in need.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palisade, and
served for many years as the church moderator, and held various
leadership roles with American Baptist Women Ministries. Katy
also served on the board of Child and Migrant Services,
receiving several awards for her commitment and service. She
began a 20 year career as a dental assistant, at age 54. Katy
enjoyed sewing, quilting, and other handiwork, tending her
flower garden, and was an avid reader. Her gift of hospitality
welcomed all to her home.
She is survived by her husband, Lyman; daughters, Nancy
Alexander of Grand Junction, and Juanita Timmerman (Randy)
of Greeley, CO; son, Galen Wallace of Palisade, and a brother,
Eric Fullmer (Marilyn) of Columbia, TN. Her father, mother,
two brothers, and two sisters preceded her in death. She is also
survived by five grandchildren, James Alexander (Tronette),
Mea Quackenbush (James), Jeffrey Alexander (Eryn), Ryan
Timmerman, and Megan Timmerman, and four great-grandsons,
Hayden Timmerman, Elijah Quackenbush, James (JJ)
Alexander, and Wesley Alexander. Katy was looking forward to
the arrival of great-granddaughter, Celeste Alexander, who will
join the family in December.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015,
at 11:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, Palisade, CO.
Memorial donations may be made in Kathleen’s name to the
First Baptist Church of Palisade.
