CLYDE NOTTINGHAM DIED IN CALIFORNIA
County Commissioner Harry NOTTINGHAM informed us Monday of the death of his brother, Clyde NOTTINGHAM, at Los Angeles, Calif., August 22.
Mr. NOTTINGHAM was one of the early residents of Eagle county. The elder of the Nottingham brothers, he owned and operated the ranch holdings at Avon after his father's death for many years. He sold his interest in the ranches to his brother, Harry and Emmett, about 1918,and moved to Glenwood Springs, where until about six years ago he owned and operated a cafe on river front, opposite the depot.
Mr. NOTTINGHAM had been in poor health for a number of years and it was while he was visiting a son, Neil NOTTINGHAM, in San Bernardine [sic Bernardino], Calif., that he was stricken with a heart attack and passed away at his home in Huntington Park, where he was taken by his son when he was able to travel.
Mr. NOTTINGHAM was born in Guthrie, Ia., 67 years ago, coming to Colorado in 1879 with his parents and his brothers and sisters, who made the trip in a covered wagon. The family settled first at Red Cliff, while his father secured work in the mines at Gilman, later taking up their place of abode on a ranch at Avon.
Burial was in Forest Lawn cemetery, San Diego, Calif. Surviving him are his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Paul BOLAND and Mrs. Paul BENNAMEN, and two sons, Rolland NOTTINGHAM and Neil NOTTINGHAM, all of California, also two brothers, Harry and Emmett NOTTINGHAM of Avon, and a sister, Mrs. SWEENEY, of Glenwood Springs.
